Do your children rule your home? If they do, don’t worry! You’re not the only parent whose kids have taken over. Toys always end up everywhere and underfoot. Your home seems to be more cluttered than usual, and that’s not including the toys. There’s no need to stress out. We have some HouseMaids cleaning tops for toys and clutter you can follow to gain control of rule over your kingdom.
Toys and Clutter Cleaning Tips:
Tip #1: Toy Inventory. Find some time when your kids are either asleep or out of the house and gather all their toys into one area. With everything together, you may be surprised at how many toys you accumulate over time. If a toy hasn’t been played with in a couple months, it is time to get rid of it. You can donate your old toys or get crafty and turn them into something useful like a lamp. Getting rid of toys can call for tears so be sure to keep some favorites around.
Tip #2: Designated Spots. If the toys don’t have a specific spot to be put, your kids will be less likely to put them away. Finding space in your home to store the toys will keep them from ending up thrown about. This can be made easy by getting a large container or storage bin to keep them all together. If you have more than one kid, get them each their own bin to store their own separate toys.
Tip #3: Cleanup Incentives. You may not like the idea of bribing your children, but it’s bribing when it teaches them to clean up after themselves. Give your kids a reason to put their toys away. For example, you can keep track of how often they put them away. If they consistently put them away for 2 or 3 weeks, reward them with a new toy or their favorite meal.
Tip #4: Don’t be Confined. If your kids don’t like playing in just one room of the house, think about getting containers for each room they play in. That way they can put their toys away in whichever room they are playing in instead of having to drag them all back to where the container is stored. If they have to drag them back, they’ll be less likely to consistently put the toys away.
