Upholstery Cleaning

Before using any cleaning products, including water, test it on a small, hidden portion of the upholstery before you try to tackle the entire couch. You can purchase upholstery cleaners, or you can make your own with a mix of warm water and dishwashing soap. Next, remove all the cushions and vacuum thoroughly. Rub the cleaner into the upholstery using a soft-bristled brush and remove soapy foam with a spatula.

Rinse away remaining soap suds with a clean, damp cloth and let dry completely. One note: using too much solution or water can leave water stains and may cause the fabric to shrink (depending on fabric consistency). Wood Cleaning

Then use a wood furniture cleaner or make your own solution using turpentine and linseed oil. Using a little of the cleaner at a time, pour it on the furniture and work it in with a cloth. Be careful not to use too much – a little goes a long way. Once clean, consider adding a wax to protect the furniture in the future.
