Sarasota FL Maid Service
Everyone knows how to vacuum and the best way to suck up dirt and grime, right? Well actually, no. There is certainly more than one way to vacuum a room or your home, and they are not all equally effective. If you’re battling stubborn floors and vacuuming has become a headache rather than just a chore, simply follow our vacuuming tips for an easy clean.
Slow and Steady
Vacuum rooms with slow, repetitive, overlapping strokes and in a pattern that you will remember and follow throughout the room to ensure you get every area. Vacuuming too quickly doesn’t allow for effective sucking power, and an overlapping pattern will be sure to cover high traffic areas.
Don’t wait until the bag is completely full before you empty it, or until the “check bag” indicator light comes on. It may be too late and you may be spreading around dirt as you try to vacuum it up. Aim to clean the bag or bin out when it is closer to three quarters full. This will also keep the suction power strong.
Clean the dust cup (bagless vacuums) and filter. These areas harbor dirt and debris, too, and if not cleaned along with the bin and bag, you are not getting the most out of your vacuuming. HEPA filters should be changed every six months, depending on use.
If your vacuum suction is not what it used to be, or you’re noticing that dirt and debris are left behind on carpets and rugs, you may have items stuck around the brush roll. Check for hair, dental floss, string and other items that can prevent your brush roll from rolling. No rolling, no effective vacuuming. Cut these out with scissors and check the roll periodically.
