No one particularly likes to clean the bathroom. It’s not fun and bathrooms are the hardest room in the house to keep clean after the kitchen. The actual cleaning process isn’t hard, it’s just difficult because you have to regularly clean it to keep it looking nice. Here are a few quick and simple tips for keeping the bathroom clean in 2017:
Clear the Moisture
One of the biggest issues bathrooms have is the presence of moisture. It’s hard to get around that fact seeing as your shower and sinks are in the bathroom. Moisture can cause mildew, mold, water spots, discolored grout, and it can even make your towels smell. To reduce the amount of moisture you can:
- Shower squeegee. Take a few minutes after your shower to wipe it down. It may seem tedious and not fun, but it beats having to scrub off grout.
- Use water repellent. Yes this is used for your car windshield and yes you can use it for your shower. The purpose of water repellent is to help water, soap, and other minerals move down the drain before they have a chance to linger.
- Use the exhaust fan. You should run this while you shower and for about 20 minutes after you’re done. It helps prevent mildew growth and helps to dry your towels.
Clear Surfaces
Your bathroom counters and cabinets probably collect just as much junk as the kitchen. Declutter your bathroom by starting with the medicine cabinet. Go through and get rid of any expired medication and items you just don’t use. Move from there to the drawers and then cabinets doing the same thing.
Clear Schedule
Cleaning the bathroom can be quite the task and you may find it helpful to keep a schedule. You can help yourself by keeping track of what and when you clean on a calendar. If you cleaned a certain area out one week, you can maybe skip it the next cleaning round. It can also be helpful to keep a weekly bathroom cleaning checklist and cross things out as you go.
Keeping the bathroom clean in 2017 can be difficult, but if you follow these tips, you may find it less painful than previous years. For more tips on how to keep your bathroom clean, call HouseMaids at (941) 953-4300.
