A new study makes hiring a service for house cleaning in Sarasota FL sound like a better idea than ever. You may be spending too
much time on housework depending on what your partner does for a living.
The research found that the amount of time couples spend on housework is linked to their occupations. Men who switched over into female-dominated professions spent about 25% more time doing housework while their female partners did about 14% less. On the whole, women do about two-thirds of all housework. The study was led by University of Notre Dame Sociologist Elizabeth Aura McClintock.
Interestingly, the study also found that the amount of cleaning single men and women did was not affected by their line of work suggesting that relationship dynamics play a big part here. Researchers speculated that men in traditionally female jobs may feel less powerful and be more accommodating to their partners. It would also be nice to think that maybe they’re more empathetic and realize how much effort goes into maintaining a pleasant home.
It’s not surprising that women are doing the larger share of housework given that most men are going to be found in predominantly male occupations. Unless your partner has been talking about going back to school to become a nurse or a teacher, you may have to decide between hiring a maid service or spending much of your weekend vacuuming and dusting. Actually, even if you and your spouse are both child care workers, it would be nice to give yourselves a break from extra chores. Would you rather scour the bathtub or sit down together with a bottle of wine and a plate of cheese?
