If you haven’t ever been much of a cleaner, it might be difficult to get into the groove of cleaning. You want to have a clean home but you don’t want to waste too much time getting it that way. However, cleaning can be
therapeutic. In fact, many people recommend cleaning when you’re feeling blocked, depressed or confused.
Julia Cameron, writer of The Artist’s Way, says, “Sometimes, when we pray for guidance, we’re guided in unexpected directions. We may want a lofty answer and we get the intuition to clean our bedroom.” So cleaning can even be a spiritual exercise. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy the process of cleaning:
- Music. Listening to music when you clean makes it more fun to do. Put on some of your favorite songs. Or listen to something new from YouTube. Feel free to dance a little bit while you put things away. And if you like singing, well, there’s no better time to give your vocal chords some practice! If you listen to music while you clean, you’ll probably be done with your chores before you know it.
- Get the right implements. It’s not easy to sweep your floor if your broomstick is broken. And if you’re cleaning your kitchen counter with rags that have seen better days, you’re not going to want to touch them. Make sure you keep your home stocked with a good broom, mop, paper towels (or clean cloth napkins, if you’re trying to conserve paper), a vacuum cleaner that works (if you have a carpet) and clean sponges to do your dishes. When you know that you have all these great implements waiting for you, you’re much more likely to pick them up and start cleaning.
- Put aside some time everyday. If you put off your cleaning for even one day, you generally find that quite a bit has gathered up for the next day. So it’s better to do a little bit everyday rather than leaving it all for the weekend. Some people even recommend that you set aside a certain amount of time to clean, say 15 minutes or half an hour and do whatever you can during that time. When your time is up, you can stop right away and pick things up the next day.
- Get house cleaning in Lakewood Ranch. If you’ve done your best to motivate yourself to clean but you just don’t have the time for it, you can always get house cleaning in Lakewood Ranch. Some of us have really high-pressure jobs and we can’t devote our time to cleaning up our houses as much as we would like. This is also true when you have children. There’s no reason to feel guilty about this because you can always get a maid service to help you out.
