Do you have company coming over soon? Is your house a complete disaster? Maybe it’s not even a total mess, but it sure isn’t guest-ready. If your answers are yes and you need a quick way to fix this problem, follow this guide on how to clean your home fast and you will be ready to entertain guests in under an hour:
Top to Bottom
No matter where you start your cleaning, always work your way from the top down so dirt from the higher surfaces falls to the lower surfaces which haven’t been cleaned yet. It would be counterproductive to clean your floors first and then you go to wipe off tables or the ceiling fan and all this dust falls onto the floors you just cleaned.
Bedrooms
Spend about 5 minutes in each bedroom. The short amount of time will make sure that you have enough for each room in the house. In the bedroom, make the beds, clear the clutter, and wipe down the furniture. If you’re in a rush, take a bin with you to put the clutter in and tuck it out of site in the closet. Your clutter can wait to be sorted for when you have more time.
Bathrooms
Take about 7 minutes for each bathroom. Doing all the bathrooms at once makes it easier because you’re in the same cleaning mode. Be sure to wipe down all the counters, refill the toilet paper, change out the hand towels for fresh ones, and give a quick rinse to the shower and the toilet.
Living and Dining Rooms
Since these are bigger rooms and a lot of time will be spent here, take about 7-10 minutes for each. Clear all the clutter, again taking a bin with you to sort out the clutter later. Working in a circle, dust every surface top to bottom. Wipe down or vacuum your furniture to rid them of crumbs. Vacuum or sweep your floors last.
Kitchen
Your kitchen is probably where your guests congregate the most since this is where the food is. Take 10-15 minutes to clean the kitchen. Clean all the dishes either by hand or loading them into the dishwasher. Wipe down the stovetop and clear the counters of nonessentials. Your cabinets and fridge could also use a good wiping. Many people forget how dirty those too can get. Once all the top surfaces have been cleaned, sweep or mop your kitchen floor to collect the leftover crumbs.
